Who We Are

Music freaks and technology geeks.

We're competitive spirits, big thinkers, visionary artists, amateur DJ's and practical jokers. Hang around long enough and we'll probably give you a nickname or two. We've been teachers, students, interns and big players at some of the top colleges and companies nationwide, brought together by our singular dedication to what we do. We're passionate. Whether it's about marketing strategy or pop culture trends, we always have an opinion. But, we're also listeners, so we like to hear what others have to say, too. It's just part of the smart-yet-playful energy that we put into every bit of work we do—and that keeps us coming back for more.

There's a reason no one leaves.

"Cubicle" is not in our vocabulary and when it comes to communicating concepts there simply are no boundaries. In our open office, we can freely trade fresh thoughts, insights, advice… even one-liners with ease. And that's just the start of why we love coming to work every day.

We thrive on our high-energy, collaborative environment, where designers, project managers, and programmers sharing ideas isn't a rare occurrence, it's a daily norm. Valuing creative and strategic contributions from team members on every side of the business and fostering a culture of healthy competition have been key factors in our success, have helped us grow, and have helped us hold onto our top talent year after year.

So, if you'd like to join our team, we'd like to hear from you.

Gogi Gupta

Founder

Gogi Gupta, Founder

As our founder, Gogi sets the tone for everything that happens at Gupta Media. He plays many roles, including but not limited to: client relationship manager, idea generator, advisor, taskmaster, nickname czar, troublemaker.

Gogi's primary characteristic is his belief that he can make anything work, and that he can convince anyone that it will work. My inclination is to look for what's going to go wrong.  Although I enjoy giving him a hard time about some of his more outlandish claims, his optimism is rarely unfounded. He has the right mix of intelligence, subject matter knowledge, and stubbornness to pull it off.

Gogi is rarely content to let things stand as they are. When he was an undergraduate at Cornell, he wasn't satisfied with one major, so he combined Consumer Economics with Policy Analysis. Around the office, he's always tinkering with his monitor configuration to achieve optimal efficiency. This drive to improve things leads to a constant stream of ideas, from which we pick the most viable and make them happen.

Jason Frank

Chief Architect

Jason Frank, Chief Architect

I met Jason six years ago playing softball. I didn't realize it then, but I've learned since then that Jason is really good at most things. He writes elegant code, plays a fierce game of tennis and is a newspaper-quality copy editor. At Stanford, he studied Psychology as an undergraduate and then went on to get his Masters in Computer Science. To understand Jason, you have to appreciate that juxtaposition.

As our Chief Software Architect, Jason oversees Reports(SE), Metrics, SmartURL and a host of other projects. He's shaped our approach to technology - we don't build big projects that fail. Jason won't let us. In the world of dot-com dreamers, Jason is the counterweight. He is the prototypical "doer.”

Beyond his formal role as our software architect, Jason serves as a professor of sorts - helping break down complex problems, teach, mentor and provide guidance to the team. When I'm in need of advice, jFrank (as we call him) is always ready to provide a reasoned, intelligent opinion. Although most clients rarely interact with Jason directly, their experience with Gupta Media is shaped in a hundred different ways by Jason.

Jason Carrasco

Director of Online Media

Portrait

Jason is our fearless Director of Online Media and an expert in all things marketing. As the first employee of the company, Jason has been working alongside Gogi since MySpace was the king of social media, and he has been a huge part of helping the company evolve into what it is today. Jason also holds the distinction of being the first member of the Syracuse colony at Gupta Media, bringing Orange pride, a Syracuse lawn gnome and a strong educational foundation to the agency. Jason keeps the team on the cutting edge of new practices and technologies, while using his expertise to guide the team on a day-to-day basis. Through years of hands-on campaign work, Jason has solidified his position as an essential online media consultant who clients and team members alike can rely on. Beyond marketing understanding, Jason also has an encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture and music, and is our resident foodie. All of the above, plus Jason's calm, confident and creative persona make him an essential piece of the Gupta Media team.

Laura O'Connell

Creative Director

Laura O'Connell

Laura O'Connell is the creative backbone of Gupta Media. Since taking the leap from Business Analyst to Creative Director in 2008, the proud Syracuse University graduate has created hundreds of banners and Web sites for the music industry's most popular artists and events. Due to Laura's creative savvy, business acumen, and ambitious attitude, Billboard Magazine named Laura one of its prestigious "30 Under 30" of 2009.

As Gupta Media's only Designer-Analyst hybrid, Laura is uniquely equipped to tackle anything and everything related to design, copy, and marketing. An expert in Photoshop, Laura faced the ultimate test when she was tasked to transform Gupta employees into Jonas Brothers (see here).

Known around the office as LOCO, Laura's crazy work marathons never fail to deliver beautiful creative sets by deadline. Her dedication to the company and compassionate nature have raised the bar for all Gupta Media employees. Always offering both creative and business-minded solutions to any challenge that may arise, Laura is an invaluable member of the Gupta team.

Joe Schlesinger

Account Supervisor

Portrait

Joe and I started with the company within a few months of each other, and over time I've gotten to know him well. Joe is a focused and determined individual who holds himself to a high standard. His work is impeccable; not only does he not settle for anything less than the best, but he is always striving to help our team succeed. Joe is a friendly, good natured guy, with a sarcastic wit that comes out from time to time.

As an avid sports fan, Joe exemplifies the ultimate team player. He sets a great example for the other analysts though hard work, attention to detail and willingness to take on any challenge. Joe is always there to help, and when you're in a pinch, you can count on him to lend a hand. Joe has a competitive spirit and is one of the first to recognize when the team is on pace to set new records. If another analyst is approaching a personal milestone, you can bet Joe knows about it, and he's cheering them on.

It's not uncommon to see Joe answering after-hours client questions or responding to weekend requests. These things serve as proof that Joe's dedication is not confined to "normal business hours." I'm not sure if Joe has ever taken any time off, but inside the office, or out, Joe is always connected. In addition to being a valuable member of our team, Joe is a gold glove infielder for the company softball team, a Red Sox fan, and a die-hard supporter of his alma mater Syracuse University.

Jessica Nelson

Account Supervisor

Portrait

Jess joined our team in 2008 after graduating from Boston University. She is a dedicated worker with a knack for statistics and a passion for metal (music, that is). As an Analyst, Jess has been somewhat of a trailblazer, becoming the first person to win the Analyst of The Quarter Award, the first to reach the million-dollar mark on Facebook and the first to earn the Gupta Media Triple Crown (most campaigns, most clicks, and lowest CPC in the same month). Working with Jess, you'll see that she brings everything to the table. She is equal parts confident and humble, easygoing but always focused, and I find her to be most hilarious at times when she's not even trying to be funny. She has earned many nicknames in her time here, most notably JJ (short for "Jersey Jess"), which she somehow earned despite being from Trumbull, Connecticut.

Stephanie Yessler

Senior Business Analyst

Portrait

Stephanie graduated from Penn State University and hails from what we New Englanders call the "Midwest" (Pittsburgh). A self-professed "pop culture junkie" and Trivial Pursuit champion, Stephanie holds an encyclopedic knowledge of all things current. When she's not sharing fun facts with the team and teaching us about today's trends in the office, she enjoys shopping, reading good books, hanging out with friends, traveling the world, and listening to popular music, all contributing to her title of Pop Culture Queen. Her interest in entertainment news and her marketing talents work as a 1-2 punch, allowing Steph to tailor all of the work she does to current topics and client goals. Stephanie is a smart, creative and ambitious member of the team here at Gupta Media, and her energy and outgoing personality make her tons of fun to work with.

Scott Brucato

Senior Designer

Portrait

Scott's love of graphic design was born at Keene State College. An avid concert goer (averaging 30 shows a year) and a huge Phish fan, Scott found his calling at Gupta Media, being able to embrace his passion for both music and creativity. His easy going disposition allows him to focus and dedicate the amount of time and thought that each project deserves. Scott looks at each new assignment with a pair of fresh eyes and continuously searches for inspiration to create ads that are not only beautiful, but effective. Want an example of his work? You're looking at it--our website. If all else fails he has an offer to join our fanciful band Jason and The Analysts as our stellar drummer.

Alexa Pomerico

Senior Business Analyst

Portrait

Alexa checks in to Gupta Media with poise, a fierce work ethic and a penchant for social media. A graduate of the Syracuse S.I. Newhouse School, Alexa combines her business savvy with a passion for music that drives her marketing campaigns. Alexa's efforts pay off – she's had the lowest CPC on Facebook since she joined the team, leading to speculations that she has the magic touch. Adaptable and a quick learner, Alexa fits right into her role as an Analyst on the team. Clients and coworkers love Alexa's can-do attitude and her warm personality.

Elizabeth Bauman

Senior Business Analyst

Portrait

A native of the greater Boston area, Elizabeth returned to the city upon graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in French Studies. Her superior multitasking skills, passion for all things Internet, and sense of detail has brought her to online marketing at Gupta Media. Her combination of advertising skills and dedication is another reason our clients trust our online marketing dream team with their biggest projects.

On a more personal, musical note, Elizabeth is a theater enthusiast and show tune fanatic. She was an admirer of glee club way before the hit television series, growing up acting and singing in an array of theatrical performances, and holds a deep appreciation for female singer/songwriters. When she's not glued to a computer screen, one might find her singing along to Fiona Apple or annihilating a game of brick breaker.

Natalie Mroczka

Senior Designer

Portrait

A member of Gupta Media's "Pictures" division since 2010, Natalie has tremendous flair and a passion for design that shines through in her work. Natalie spent her freshman and sophomore years of college attending University of Rochester's Fine Arts program, before transferring to a more specialized Design program at Rochester Institute of Technology. Her combined skill set in these two artistic realms is evident in the design work she puts together for clients, pairing beautiful layouts with an understanding for smart functionality. Natalie is able to take any campaign's marketing goals and interpret them visually, propelling our online ad campaigns forward.

Natalie's creative savvy is also matched by her knack for the occasional well-timed and hilarious one-liner, known to bring the office to tears in laughter. A native of Cazenovia, New York, Natalie also joins a long list of our team members with upstate New York ties, who refuse to let a few inches (or feet) of snow stand in the way of getting to the office. Having wowed fellow employees and clients alike with her design work on a diverse range of projects, we can't wait to see what Natalie has in store for us next.

Gregg Tobin

Senior Business Analyst

Portrait

Motivation, determination, energy, and professionalism are just some of the traits Gregg runs over to Gupta Media with. Joining our SEM team in 2010, Gregg's work ethic and dedication have made him an excellent addition to the Analyst team. 3G (as in speed) will frequently, literally, run over to the office after hours to check in on his campaigns and ensure that everything is performing smoothly and that our clients are happy.

Hailing from Longmeadow, Massachusetts with a background in Political Science from Syracuse University, Gregg is a die-hard New England sports fan (go Pats!). On a summer day, you might find Gregg tailgating at a country music festival, or hitting the gym to work on his running speed! 3G combines an appreciation for teamwork and good-natured competition, making him an invaluable addition to the dynamic environment at Gupta Media. We look forward to seeing more great work from Gregg in the coming years.

Scott Cordeiro

Senior Software Engineer

Portrait

As our Senior Software Engineer, Scott is one of the integral members of our "Bytes" department responsible for shaping the back-end technology that helps set Gupta Media apart from other agencies. Scott's degree from Tufts University's computer science program awarded him the skills to become an "explorer" in the software engineering sense. Scott's passion in his work leads him to discover new ways to improve upon several of our in-house tools: in his time at Gupta Media, he has managed developing improvements to Report(se) making the system more user-friendly, both for clients and our SEM team, and has found ways to integrate helpful data to our projects.

Scott's explorative nature and smarts extend beyond the realm of development; he is a fan of trip-hop and acid jazz, loves to travel (especially in Asia), is fluent in three languages, and is learning Japanese. Scott, or Corduroy (the nickname Scooter was already taken), thrives on adventure and seeks it out whenever he can, whether it's jumping out of planes, scuba diving, trying new things, or pioneering new ways to improve our systems! We are always excited to see the upcoming software developments Scott has up his sleeves.

Sara Noel

Senior Business Analyst

Portrait

Sara first joined Gupta Media as an intern during her final semester at Boston University. Impressed by her media planning skills, Sara is the first intern we ever offered a position. After graduating with her degree in advertising, she joined the team as an Analyst.

This former Starbucks barista continues to impress. Sara killed the AdWords exam, setting a new agency record with a score of 96! A quick learner, she made the transition from intern to Analyst look effortless. Sara spent less time learning the basics, and more time polishing her campaigns for performance.

At the end of the day Sara will go head-to-head with 3G to be the last analyst in the office. When she does make it home, rather than going to sleep, Sara will stay up searching YouTube for hidden gems. She'll start the next morning with her "What Makes You Beautiful" alarm and arrive at work, fired up, for the day's events.

Alex Sliwkowski

Business Analyst

Portrait

Alex joined the Gupta Media team, as our first Coordinator, after graduating early from Boston University. At BU, she studied journalism. She got her start in journalism as the editor-in-chief of her high school newspaper and with a published column in her local paper. Tight deadlines and never-ending flow of projects taught Alex how to be an excellent multi-tasker, remain calm under pressure, and handle constant change with ease. These attributes make her a natural fit for the ever-busy digital media team.

As a native of the Boston area, Alex enjoys the ocean, often spending weekends on Martha’s Vineyard with her family. Throughout the office, Alex is known for her well-timed one-liners, which leave the rest of us snorting with laughter.

Erika Lepke

Designer

Portrait

As a graduate from Carnegie Mellon University, Erika has a nearly unparalleled love for all things Pittsburgh. During her time in the Steel City, Erika earned a BA in Communication Design, while simultaneously honing her darts skills as a member of a city darts league.

Creativity, drive, and persistence have proven invaluable traits as Erika quickly advances as a designer at Gupta Media. She tackles each project with a fresh approach, always keeping the end goal in mind. Erika is always eager to take on bigger, more challenging projects, proving her commitment to design and our team.

In addition to her love for design, Erika is a self-proclaimed burrito fan. She kept the office updated on the Kendall Square Chipotle grand opening and is likely to jump out of her seat at the mention of a lunchtime burrito run.

Whether you're looking for someone with whom you can admire Saul Bass's designs, share a burrito or to design your next killer pre-roll, Erika's got you covered!

Michaela Baril

Coordinator

Portrait

Michaela joined the Gupta Media team in the winter of 2012 and quickly became an important part of our team. She's a team player that approaches problems from an analytical perspective and almost always finds the most efficient solutions when faced with a challenge.

With dual degrees in Advertising and Graphic Design from University of Miami, Michaela's passion for understanding all aspects of the advertising industry makes her an invaluable resource to us all.

Michaela's natural gift for organization and go-getter mentality help her complete tasks throughout the workday. Her motivation extends beyond the workday and is present in her personal life, too. When not at work, Michaela spends time volunteering with the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, cycling, playing soccer, and spending weekends on the beach in Newport, RI.

Jordan Maddocks

Coordinator

Portrait

Jordan joined Gupta Media from Brown University, where he studied Business Entrepreneurship. At 6 foot 4, he is the tallest person in the office by several inches and has used his height to his advantage: Jordan was an All-American high jumper in high school and continued the sport during his college career. At Brown, Jordan spent time working at a news media start-up, where he interviewed the creator of TED Talks, Richard Warnum. He was also recognized for his passion for technology when he was awarded a $20,000 grant to develop a social networking app while in school and after his graduation.

Whether it is in the office or on company outings, Jordan is always making members of the Gupta team laugh. Jordan's great sense of humor and easygoing personality are matched with a dedication to his clients and teammates. He is constantly lending an extra hand and his curious nature makes him look beyond the surface and take new, unique approaches to answering problems. When he is not in the office, Jordan enjoys listening to funk and electronic music-- if there is a venue in Boston that plays live music, Jordan has most likely been at least once.
